Jolly and Johnny Mc Grog

lyrics

Jolly McGrog and Jonny McGrog

That one fine day a lark they say
did sqwaulk at Jolly McGrog,
so Jolly McGrog he stepped on a log
and rolled into misty fog,
and rolled into misty fog.

Ah Johnny McGrog he called from above,
“Where oh where did you go?”
And low and bellow was Jolly McGrog,
floating past him slow,
floating past him slow.

He treaded and bobbed and slacked on the job
and sputtered and struggled wiggled and muttered,
Way up on the ridge, Jonny did cringe,
but kept his head above,
he kept his head above.

Then Jonny McGrog he caught that same log
before it went floating on by
and low and behold he jumped on that log
and stood up face to the sky,
he Stood up to face the sky.

The Brothers McGrog they skipped on that log
over the rapids and waves
and the salmon they flew and Jonny he knew that
Jolly had had more than a few,
yeah Jolly had more than a few.

Thinking back to early that night
he drank a gallon they found
and so did his brother their father and mother
and they went round and round,
yeah they went round and round.

But Jonny was struck as his brother kept up
and danced on that log like he knew,
the water was wide and the valley beside her
dropped ninety feet below,
dropped ninety feet below.

So Jolly McGrog careened on that log
toward the cascading falls,
lord knows he was scared but went forward and dared
and Jolly starts singing this song,
yeah Jolly he sang a song.

It went "follow the flow wherever it goes,
you can't help but give it your best"
and taking the plunge and dropping below
is the way to pass the test,
its a way to pass the test.

And over the edge of the cliff went Jolly
and faster and faster he dropped oh golly
and Jonny he watched with fingers crossed
as Jolly was tossed in the air,
yeah Jolly was tossed in the air.

But the lark that had squawked saw from his block
that Jolly was going to die
and over the falls he flew with his calls
echoing everywhere
and larks came from near and from far...

Jolly was done the last rays of sun
were shining into his eyes
And Jonny was broken the last words were spoken:
Oh Jolly what have you done?
Jolly what have you done?

The larks they all gathered discussing the matter
within a second or two,
without much thought or fear of getting caught
they went under Jolly and flew,
they went under Jolly and flew.

And Jolly went down without much sound,
the larks they softened his fall
and Jolly was found with his head on the ground,
the luckiest guy I know,
the luckiest guy I know.

Now Jolly got busy and made a few kids
and Jonny went pirate along with his deeds
they both took a chance ant went on a dance
through barnacles of time...
those barnacles of time...
